Aivaro: Open-Source AI Tool That Builds Automation Workflows From Plain English

AI news: Aivaro: Open-Source AI Tool That Builds Automation Workflows From Plain English

Paying $30 or more per month for Zapier to run workflows you could describe in a single sentence feels like overpaying. That's the pitch behind Aivaro, a new open-source tool that converts plain-English descriptions into working automation workflows.

Describe what you want - "when a new Shopify order comes in, send a Slack message and create a Stripe invoice" - and Aivaro's AI builds the workflow for you. You can also manually tweak the result in a visual drag-and-drop editor if the AI doesn't get it exactly right.

What's Included

  • 20+ integrations covering Google, Stripe, Slack, Shopify, and more (212 individual tools total)
  • Visual editor for manual adjustments after AI generation
  • Human-in-the-loop approval: emails, payments, and other sensitive actions won't fire without you signing off

The human-in-the-loop piece is the detail that matters most here. Fully autonomous AI workflows sound great until one sends an invoice to the wrong customer or fires off an email with hallucinated data. Aivaro requires explicit approval for anything with real consequences, which is the right default for a tool handling money and communications.

As an open-source project, Aivaro is still early. Twenty integrations is a fraction of what Zapier or Make offer, and the quality of those integrations (error handling, edge cases, reliability) is unproven at this stage. The AI workflow generation also depends heavily on the underlying model's ability to correctly interpret your intent, which means results will vary.

For anyone comfortable self-hosting and willing to trade polish for zero monthly cost, it's worth trying. The source code is available on GitHub for inspection and contributions.
