44% of U.S. GDP. That's what small businesses generate, according to Anthropic's announcement today - and it's the audience the company is now targeting directly with Claude for Small Business, a new package that connects Claude to the software small business owners already use daily.

The offering centers on 15 pre-built agentic workflows - automated multi-step tasks that Claude runs on your behalf - and 15 repeatable-task skills across finance, operations, sales, marketing, HR, and customer service. Specific tasks include payroll planning, monthly close reconciliation, business insights dashboards, and campaign management.

The integration list covers a recognizable small business stack: Intuit QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365. The approach is deliberate. Rather than asking owners to move their data into a new AI platform, Claude connects to tools they're already paying for.

"Claude for Small Business runs inside the tools owners already rely on...and takes on the work that piles up after hours, like planning payroll, chasing invoices," said Daniela Amodei, Anthropic's Co-founder and President.

Seven Integrations, 30 Pre-Built Tasks

The workflow coverage at launch breaks down across four core areas:

  • Finance: QuickBooks and PayPal for payroll planning, monthly close, and invoice chasing
  • Sales and CRM: HubSpot for pipeline management and outreach campaigns
  • Design and contracts: Canva for marketing assets, Docusign for document workflows
  • Productivity: Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 across everything else

Along with the product, Anthropic is launching a free "AI Fluency for Small Business" online course developed with PayPal, and a physical SMB Tour starting May 14 in Chicago, with over 10 cities planned.

The Real Question Is Pricing

Anthropic did not disclose pricing in the launch announcement. That matters. Small business owners who already pay for a Claude subscription, plus QuickBooks, HubSpot, and the rest of the stack, need this to cost less than a part-time bookkeeper or a virtual assistant to justify the addition.

The practical appeal here is time, not raw capability. Most small business owners are doing finance, HR, marketing, and customer service themselves, often late at night. Pre-built workflows that handle the administrative layer without requiring any prompt engineering are a real value proposition - if the execution holds up. The touring roadshow and free course suggest Anthropic is thinking about adoption, not just the product launch.
