Anthropic Confirms Claude Opus Is Not Being Removed from Pro Plans

Anthropic's Claude Opus model is staying on Pro plans. After confusion spread among subscribers about a potential removal, it's been confirmed that the $20/month Pro tier still includes Opus access - no changes are coming.

The concern appears to have started when some users encountered UI changes or unclear messaging that implied Opus might be restricted or dropped from the plan. That isn't happening, at least not right now.

For Pro subscribers, the lineup stays intact: Sonnet for most everyday tasks, Haiku for faster and lighter work, and Opus for the most demanding jobs - complex multi-step reasoning, detailed writing, careful analysis of long documents. Opus costs more per token (a token is roughly three-quarters of a word - the unit of text that AI models process) than Sonnet, which is why Anthropic rate-limits how often Pro users can call on it before throttling kicks in.

This kind of confusion isn't new. Anthropic has adjusted tier features and rate limits periodically since Pro launched, and its user base has grown understandably sensitive to any hint of feature reductions. Opus is one of the main reasons developers and power users choose Pro over the free tier. Any genuine removal would be a significant pricing change - one Anthropic would almost certainly announce formally rather than quietly roll out.
