Claude Cowork Opens to All Paid Plans, Adds Admin Controls and Zoom Integration

Claude by Anthropic

Anthropic opened Claude Cowork to all paid subscribers on April 9, bringing its team collaboration layer out of limited availability. The feature lets groups coordinate on projects, share context across Claude sessions, and run the kind of multi-step research and documentation work that doesn't fit neatly into a single chat.

One number from the announcement stands out: the vast majority of Claude Cowork usage comes from outside engineering teams. Operations, marketing, finance, and legal are driving adoption - which means this isn't primarily a developer tool, even though it sits on the same platform as Claude's coding features.

What Shipped for Enterprise

The enterprise tier gets the most meaningful additions:

  • Role-based access controls - admins can organize users into groups and assign different capability permissions per group
  • Per-team budget limits set from the admin console, so finance can cap what the marketing team spends on Claude sessions
  • Usage analytics dashboard showing active users, session counts, and adoption trends across the organization
  • Advanced Analytics API for per-user activity data, including which connectors and skills each person is using, plus daily/weekly/monthly active user counts
  • Expanded OpenTelemetry support (a standard for collecting software performance data) that now emits events for tool calls, file operations, and skill usage - useful for IT teams monitoring AI usage across the company
  • Per-tool connector controls restricting specific actions within MCP connectors (MCP, or Model Context Protocol, is the standard that lets Claude connect to external tools and data sources)

The new Zoom MCP connector is available to all paid tiers, not just Enterprise. It pulls meeting summaries and action items directly into Cowork sessions, which is the kind of integration that saves the fifteen minutes most teams spend manually copying notes from one app to another.

OpenTelemetry features require Team or Enterprise plans. The full suite of organizational controls - budget limits, RBAC, advanced analytics - is Enterprise-only.

For small teams on Pro plans, general availability mostly means Cowork is no longer waitlisted. The enterprise controls matter more to companies deploying Claude across departments where visibility into usage and costs is a compliance or budget requirement.
