Anthropic just shipped Claude Design, a visual creation tool powered by Claude Opus 4.7, now in research preview as of April 17, 2026. It lives inside Claude and is available to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers at no additional cost beyond their existing plan.
The premise: describe what you need - a pitch deck, a landing page mockup, a prototype, a one-pager - and Claude builds it, takes your feedback, and hands you something ready to export. No design software or prior design experience required.
What Actually Ships
The tool accepts several starting points: text prompts, uploaded files (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), codebases, or captured website elements. Refinement happens through inline comments, direct text edits, and controls for spacing, color, and layout.
The strongest feature for teams is design system integration. Claude reads your existing codebase and design files and automatically applies your brand's colors, typography, and components. For any company with a design system but not enough designers to cover every request, that cuts out a real bottleneck.
Exports go to Canva, PDF, PPTX, HTML, or a shareable URL. There's a direct handoff to Claude Code as well, so a design built in Claude Design can move into development without re-describing the work from scratch. Collaboration features include view-only or edit permissions and group conversations within an organization.
Anthropic positions this for three types of users: product managers and founders who need visuals but don't design, experienced designers who want faster early exploration, and marketing teams producing recurring assets. In practice, the clearest value is for that first group - people who currently spend hours fighting Canva or simply skip visuals entirely because producing them takes too long.
Enterprise admins need to enable Claude Design in Organization settings before it becomes available to users. Additional usage beyond subscription limits can be purchased separately.
