Users Report Claude Slowing Down Significantly After 9 PM

Developers using Claude for code review are reporting a consistent pattern: responses that come back quickly during business hours slow down noticeably after 9 PM.

The most likely explanation is simple capacity math. Evenings are when a huge number of developers shift to side projects, open source work, and personal coding - all tasks where AI code assistants get heavy use. That spike in concurrent requests means longer queue times for everyone.

This matters more for coding workflows than for casual chat. When you're iterating on code review, pasting files, and asking follow-up questions in rapid succession, even a few extra seconds per response breaks the flow in a way that feels much worse than the actual delay. A 10-second wait between chat messages is fine. A 10-second wait between each step of a debugging session is painful.

Anthropic hasn't publicly confirmed or addressed evening slowdowns. For paying Pro or Team subscribers, this is the kind of thing worth tracking - if you're consistently getting degraded performance during your peak working hours, that factors into the value calculation. One practical workaround: shift intensive code review sessions to morning or afternoon hours when capacity appears to be more available.
