Google just tripled the storage on its AI Pro plan from 2TB to 5TB, keeping the price at $19.99 per month. The extra space covers Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos.
Previously, AI Pro's 2TB storage was identical to the cheaper $9.99 tier, which made the upgrade harder to justify on storage alone. Now there is a real gap. The full Google One lineup currently looks like this:
- AI Plus: $7.99/month, 200GB
- AI Pro: $19.99/month, 5TB (was 2TB)
- 10TB tier: $49.99/month
- 20TB tier: $99.99/month
- AI Ultra: $249.99/month, 30TB
The timing is worth a raised eyebrow - Google announced this on April 1, which immediately drew comparisons to Gmail's original 2004 launch (1GB of free storage, announced on April Fools' Day, that everyone assumed was a joke). This one appears to be real, though the updated storage amounts hadn't yet appeared in the Google One app at the time of the announcement.
For anyone already paying for AI Pro primarily for Gemini Advanced access, this is a nice freebie. For people choosing between AI tiers based on storage needs, the jump to 5TB makes AI Pro a much better deal relative to the plans above and below it.
