Gumloop Raises $50M Series B from Benchmark for No-Code AI Agents

AI news: Gumloop Raises $50M Series B from Benchmark for No-Code AI Agents

$50 million. That's what Benchmark just bet on the idea that your average office worker should be able to build their own AI agents without writing a line of code.

Gumloop, a no-code platform for building AI-powered automation workflows, closed a Series B led by Benchmark. The deal was driven by Everett Randell, Benchmark's newest partner, who views enterprise automation as the single largest opportunity in AI right now. It's a bold thesis, but not an unreasonable one - most companies are still stuck in the "we have ChatGPT Plus subscriptions" phase of AI adoption, nowhere near actually automating repetitive work.

The pitch is straightforward: instead of waiting months for engineering teams to build custom integrations, any employee can drag-and-drop their way to an AI agent that handles tasks like data entry, report generation, or customer follow-ups. Think Zapier, but with LLMs doing the heavy lifting instead of simple if-then logic.

Where the Money's Going

Gumloop plans to use the funding to expand its enterprise sales team and deepen integrations with tools companies already use. The no-code AI agent space is getting crowded fast, with competitors like Relevance AI, Vertex AI Agent Builder, and a dozen Y Combinator startups all chasing the same prize. Benchmark's involvement gives Gumloop credibility and runway, but execution will determine whether this becomes a real platform or another well-funded demo.

The timing makes sense. Enterprise buyers are past the curiosity phase and actively looking for ways to deploy AI that don't require hiring ML engineers. A platform that genuinely lets a marketing coordinator build an agent to process campaign reports could save companies real money. The hard part has always been making these tools reliable enough that non-technical users trust them with actual business processes.
